SiN Times!

Filed under: Uncategorized — by acheshirekitten @ 9:18 pm

Last Weekend… We finally took Vivi-Flower-Face to Sin. She turned 18 the other week, and we’ve been dying to take her to Sin, a goth/absinthe bar in Perth. Laura drove up to Perth with Viv in her clutches and we dragged her out (completely willingly might I add).

We Three Sexingtons

Getting ready in my tiny room was almost comical. The only full length mirror in the house, most the floor space being taken up by bags of makeup and hair product and straighteners, drink spillages and beer in my cupboard, three bouncy excited women squeezing into laced up corsets and bodices… Laura pinned my hair up, it looked completely awesome. I like to think I came across a bit Tudor-eeeeeee. A wonderful tailed bustier/corset received from another Black Rose made my outfit. (I’ve got to thank that girl; it was too big for her when she got it from the net, and passed it on ^_^ I’ve also got to pay her, heehee….)

Ha. I have no caption for this...

We were in fact Sin-Tripping due to my dear friend Emma’s second decade of life! Twelve years of which I have known her =/ wow that’s actually rather a long time… There were even people there from our work, and our high school! Let me tell you, it was a bit of a shock seeing those metro-looking guys in a goth nightclub. (Mostly because I’d not really seen any of them since I finished school). I do believe they got entirely pissed and no one could tell that they looked out of place because they were having such an awesome, awesome time.

Not-So-Little-Anymore Viv was totally in her element. We got a tiny bit boozed up, and then it was dancing, dancing, dancing. Finally-All-Growed-Up, she had such a super-massive awesome time, chatting to some guys who came up to us while we were getting some fresh air, and started doing stupid things, we assume to impress us ^_^
One of them was so pissed that he kept stumbling out into the street, and thank god the club is on a not so travelled street, but he ended up on the floor a few times, and doing almost an egyptian walk in front of cars that were *attempting* to drive past. Best bit; he walked out into the street again and his pants totally fell down, and the funniest part of that was he didn’t seem to care and just twisted around on the spot being a knob and doing little air punches.

He even proposed in a boozey fit! Never before have we gotten so much male attention there! Maybe Laura and Viv are my lucky charms… one of the boys ended up finding us on the dance floor, using his phone to communicate that his name was Ash, proceding to take each of our hands and KISS THEM, and then apologise for his loser mates! Viv and he ended up chatting and she even got a hug from the gorgeous lad. Lucky girl!

I’ve been having some awesome times with this girl lately! Unfortunately for her, Sin is in Perth and she is in Bunbury =( So we have to organize more weekends up here!

Viv did the most awesome thing for Emz birthday… she got some advice on subject from me, and then painted up some little canvases. Oh my god. They were so good, and thanks in tiny part to knowledge of the crazy girl but 120 percent thanks to Viv, she got really excited about them, totally loved them, and I bet they’re already hanging up in her room ^_^ She’s such a good painter!

Painting Number One - The Heartagram

Painting Number Two - Inu Yasha

Painting Number Three - The Female Hitcher

If’n you likes what you see, she takes commissions ;) Pretty Effing Good Huh? Visit www.vavabeeb.deviantart.com and contact that girl!

It was such a good night that despite having a crummy week and a boring day at work and a really awful but stupid fight with The Boy, (which has been resolved and apologised for), saturday night with the girlies and sunday morning with the girlies plus the Wii has over shadowed it completely! Thanks Viv and Laura and Emz and Roxscizzorz, for an awesome weekend ^_^

Word Of The Week

Quiet.

Sometimes I feel like my life is an enormous rollercoaster of noise and screaming and loud music. While it’s a fun thing for a while, the ever-cyclic wheel continuing to churn you through social engagements, parties, non-stop weeks, days off filled with errands and not too much relaxing… well, it becomes tiresome.

Don’t you feel sometimes that you’d rather everyone switched off the electronics and gave you some time to hear nothing but nature? My ears have definitely, (but not diagnosedly) been damaged by loud music in earphones, not just at the point where I instinctively have the phone on my left ear because I hear better in that one, but to the extreme of actually not being able to one hundred percent hear what a co-worker says to me; from two metres away.

Sometimes I feel like I just want to go outside and listen to birds singing their natural music, even though I love, love, love modern ‘alternate’ music and rock and thrash and operatic metallll! Oh yes. But I do get tired of it. I do get tired of the constant whiring of machinery, screaming children and whinging people. I get tired of talking or hearing people talk at me…

Here’s what I do to relax and find my quiet, gooey, minty centre.

* I put my phone and my walkman in my bag and keep them out of sight…

* I try to get the boys to turn down the eternal music, yes, eternal.

* Pull out all the noisy machines from their electrical little sockets. (Apart from obviously the fridge and freezer).

* If it’s night – light some candles, or some incense.

* If it’s day – sit outside, flapping a little fan at your face lazily or if it’s cold; snuggle in a hammock with a hot chocolate or a gorgeous partner.

* Take a bath! Get the room all steamy, find some scented oil and candles, open up those pores and put something delicious in the water! Some rose-oil or petals, milk and an oat meal sugar scrub, a bath bomb and a citrus salt scrub. Soak yourself calm ^_^

* I know it sounds silly, but have just one square of chocolate. Just one, you’ll see how good it feels to remain in control of the choc-urges.

* Be by yourself. Plan to be alone and take full advantage of it, because as much as you love your loved ones, alone time is really important.

* Be aware of how loud your earphones are; if you can hear the music when they’re not in your ears, they are definitely too loud! This can cause permanent damage to your hearing, and although I’m not quite going to reccommend having a limiter enabled on your device, you should be mature and smart enough to keep the musicality in check!

So remember these tips before you turn up the volume on your music, before you feel like there’s so much noise on the brain that you can’t even sleep without something chiming away in your ears!

Word Of The Week – Some Handy Advice?

Word Of The Week!

Time.

I’m late! I’m late! For a very important date! I’ve been having trouble lately managing my time and my commitments, so here’s a few tips on staying organised that would have helped me had I thought to use them ^_^

* Keep a diary. You know, one of those books with dates in? I wrote down all my social engagements for December and thank god I hadn’t double booked anywhere… I’d forgotten one thing but that turned out to fit into my schedule anyway.

* Every time someone asks you to attend something, or wants to make a date to catch up, don’t agree right then and there. Say that you do seriously need to check your diary, because it gives you time to think and to actually check if you’ve forgotten something already planned.

* Leave some time free for yourself. I’ve booked so many things this month and next, that I don’t actually have a free weekend between work and parties. I will manage to get time to see my Nan, catch up with my parents before Christmas because I’ll be working, even Boxing Day =/ and see some friends I haven’t caught up with in a while, but the only days I seem to have free are sundays, and half of those are taken anyway. It’s important to leave some time for you, to do things for you, and to relax.

* I find that lists help me stay organised, so as well as keeping my diary updated with social things, I’ve taken to writing lists of things I need, or tasks that need to be completed. I keep forgetting to buy food for Josh’s lunch, so he’s been taking 2 minutes noodles everyday, poor thing. So, my list is written up with all the things we didn’t get when we went food shopping because the produce wasn’t good enough. You will get tasty things for lunch tomorrow I swears! (Not that you read this…)

* Have an emergency kit in your bag. Normally my bag is chock full of stuff. Books, sewing projects, a water bottle, a makeup baggy, sunnies, a half dead Walkman, supposed spare hair pins… but since I’ve had trouble with… well, life! I’ve been keeping a different stock of things in my bag. I’ve got No-Doz, an icy cold water bottle, perfume, a recent project and a new book, an umbrella for all this crazy rain we’re having in summer, my actual glasses, which I keep forgetting… and a notebook. It really helps!

So maybe next time you’re having issues with keeping organised and keeping commitments, these little tips will help!

Hey Midnight, Turn On Your Lights, Roll Out Your Stars…

Shit. It’s wednesday and I forgot about word of the week. Lets see how quickly I can come up with something! Not that anyone’s reading this anyway.

This weeks word; Instigate.

Are you sick of shit not going your way? (I’m having a cuss-filled day; Fights with glad-wrap, and bitch customers) Then get off your ass and do something about it. Sometimes I get so tired of not getting things the way I like them, I get angry about someone doing something I don’t like, even and especially when it’s none of my business, and then I think, just stop being such a bitch, girl.

You’ve no right to be whinging. Maybe a little whinge-let here and there, but good god, if you’ve got a problem, or if you’re having a problem with someone else, fix it. Start trying. Tell that girl at work that the way she puts spoons into the olives after serving shits you. They’re crooked and people won’t want to buy the olives if the display is messy.

When something isn’t quite right, start asking questions. When you don’t like the way someone spoke to you, tell them they’re a jerk.

When you know you’ve got something you need to do, some project or menial task, but it ‘all seems to hard’, you ‘never have enough time’… quit your whinging and just get it done. Start it. Maybe you’ll find it isn’t so bad.

When your boyfriend is being a slag, tell him he needs to treat you better. When things need spicing up, spice them the hell up!
When he tells you that he’s bored but doesn’t want to do anything, slap him about and tell him to stop being lazy! Surely he could at least move for long enough to get a dvd in the machine. (Thankfully I have no such problems with Him, otherwise I’d be far crankier. But you know, balance, I must illustrate my point so all can understannnndddd!)

If it comes to a problem you have with someone else, it’s either in your head, you’ve noticed something that doesn’t seem right and want to fix it, or you’re over-reacting. Half the time I’m over-reacting, but hey, if there’s a problem… Fix It! Don’t be afraid to instigate! Don’t be afraid to go first!

Listening to this for the first time on the way to work = Possibly tearing up, just a little.

She’s In It For The Money – Matthew Good (Yes, I am obsessed.)

In love with your pills
Now I can get rid of myself
If all of this kills
Why am I so hard on myself?
In this town, when the sun goes down
You party, I pay the bills
In this room, I look around at everything I’ve built
And it don’t mean a thing
Ain’t it terrible to think?
She’s in it for the money
You know, love don’t cost a thing
Build your heart a diamond and it don’t need no ring
It gets me laying sideways and everytime I sing it
She’s in it for the money
You know, love don’t mean a thing
Patty, shine a light down on me tonight
Battalions to charge and die but not take nothing
Patty, shine a light down on me tonight
Straight down on me
I’m in love with your pills
I tried to get rid of myself
A little red, a little blue
Climb the walls, how about you?
Well it don’t mean a thing
Ain’t that terrible to think?
She’s in it for the money
You know, love don’t cost a thing
Build your heart a diamond and it don’t need no ring
It gets me laying sideways and everytime I sing it
She’s in it for the money
You know, love don’t mean a thing

I Think I’ve Got The Christmas Jollies.

This week, in preparation for Christmas, I’m buying all the ingredients for fruit mince, and having a crack at it. I figure the mix needs to mature for a month, so I’ll have some time to play around with crusts and such in December.

Also, we did something naughty. We spent money on a christmas tree, which had been cheaper last week… but seeing as we spent more money than we had planned, we decided we should pull it out of the box and see if it was worth the money. So… we have a naked tree sitting in the corner of the lounge. Oh joyyyyy…

It’s a ‘real-look’ Christmas tree, so it’s this big, beautiful, fluffy affair. Josh asked what colour scheme we were going to go with, and when I shrugged, he happily suggested purple and silver ^_^ yay! Of course, it is my favorite colour. This tree will be spectacular.

I’m getting really excited about Christmas this year, despite lack of funds and no presents for boy because he’s spent lots of money on his car. (I might get him something little.) (Maybe.) (If I find a money tree ^_^ I’ll let you know…)

The other thing I’m getting excited about…. Vivienne’s 18th! It’s this weekend. My costume is probably half way done, I found my other purple kitty ear, and a friend finally dropped off the fur for my tail! She also included another rather vibrant bit of fur, which I plan to make into paws ^_^ I will of course be posting photos of the weekend, as the party is being held at my mothers house, and she has sweet, sweet internets.

My hair is being dyed this evening, there is a possibility of purple-ness, but it all depends on what I can find. I was starting to look a little ragged, and needed a bit of the old colour anyway. Perfect timing! Things are falling into place and pleasing me greatly.

My Christmas present project for the Roses is damn near finished, as I’d planned to give gifts this weekend. I might not be able to find my way down closer to Christmas… and people should be putting their trees up on the first of December anyway! So, Christmas Spirit Yay!

I know, I’ve started early, but since this is the first year I’m working in retail, all through Christmas, I don’t want it to crush my spirit quite so soon, so I’ve been taking precautions. Yes, I’m quite serious about this. No ruining Christmas.

ENOUGH ABOUT CHRISTMAS!!!

I hear you. Get on, scallywags, your eyes are too good for this.

Loved Up Stuffings!

Love Stuffing

* I saw a lady pulling a suitcase along on it’s wheels, and it looked like an enormous turquoise CLAM. Awesome

* The glamour-nanna at the train station giving out sprigs of lavender and yellow daisies. Nice touch.

* It always starts my day off nice when I go to get on the bus to work, and the lovely man in business attire stands back and says ‘After you,’ every time without fail, with a sweet smile.

* Making ridiculous goblin-faced mince pies for Halloween, and both boys in the house (over the age of 22 and even older =oP) completely loving them.

* Stolen/Coerced Blog-Mention from Ladyface Em of lickmycupcakes.wordpress.com
This makes my pants happy.

* I love how strong my legs feel. Today I notice, while walking up the stairs from the Perth Underground, that they stretch and contract and feel very solid and very strong. I am pleased, and super-aware.

* Matthew Good. Your music makes me feel. Music hasn’t done that to me in a while. It’s wonderful.

* The impending Christmas treeeee! It’s happening!

* Hiding behind my sunglasses. I used to hide behind my hair out of frightened-rabbit-habit. I broke myself of it, and feel confident with my hair pulled into a ponytail, away from my face, but sometimes it’s nice to hide. Sometimes on the train home it’s nice to be private and alone, just because some lenses over my eyes allow me to.

* Coming to peace and understanding with Le Boy on a difficult core difference.

* Getting crafty again. Shh! It’s a secret! I cannot reveal until Christmas!

* Wonderful food – beef and Guinness pie, lasagne, mini pizzas, leg of pork and salad… Oh deliciousery…

What do you love this week?!

Word of the Week

Word of the Week

Beliefs.

I don’t know about you dear reader, but I have a loose sort of… set of beliefs, if you will, and not a specific religion per se. It comes more and more apparent to me that my partner was raised in a particular religion, and although he doesn’t hold much with it anymore, he’s still quite good at arguing for it.

Enter: Christmas. I get really excited at Christmas time, and mostly I actually spell it Xmas, because I have no affinity with Christianity, in fact I’m rather not-fond of it. This is mostly because I wasn’t raised with religion, although I was definitely aware of it, I was raised to make my own decisions based on what I felt true and right to me. I identify mostly with Pagan ideals, but I still celebrate Christmas, on December 25th, in the way the Christians do: a concept Le Partner finds a little strange.

Christmas was always something that made me hugely excited. Not just because of presents, but because of the delicious food, and that everyone always go out of our way to see other family members and have a good time. This year is the second year that my parents and I have been living in different places. Vastly different, obviously, as they now live in the country, where I have remained in the city. I do envy them the beautiful countryside, the cooler weather and the wonderful company they keep, (most of the Roses and their family live in Bunbury/Donnybrook), so I come down as often as work and other commitments allow. Last year I was able to make it down on Boxing day and spend a few days with my brother and my parents, but this year I’m working and will have no such luxury.

Although Boy promises me he will have a more open outlook for Christmas this year, and I’m holding back my reservations, I’m just going to be in this corner hyperventilating, because we’re getting our tree this week. The tree is my favorite part of the festive season. Our tree at home is stunning, all the shiny ornaments, Hallmark treasures… there was a Hulk on our tree. Hulk, and Aladdin, and Captain Janeway, and Spock. Oh yes. The tree is magnificent.

This year it’s my turn to make my own Christmas, in my own way, with my own beliefs and ideals. It’s my turn to be the Queen of Christmas, and to make it a fun, and joyous and relaxing day.

Do you find you have any troubles with differences in belief? We’ve come to peace with our differences, understand eachother, and look at the holidays with open minds.
